DESCRIPTION : Tolfenamic acid (N-[(3-chloro-2-methylphenyl) anthranilic acid) is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAIDs), extremely potent; it belongs to the fenamate family just like the meclofenamic acid.It has proven to be very effective against several diseases in ruminants (cattle, sheep, goats and camelids), horses and swine: mastitis, respiratory disorders, MMA syndrome (mastitis-metritis–agalactia), arthritis, omphalectomy (excision of the navel), among others. Tolfenamic acid carries out an anti-inflammatory, analgesic, antitoxic and antipyretic action. Due to its extraordinary potency and its instructions for use, Tolfén L.A. 8% adapts perfectly to the restrictions of the modern breeding.
TARGET ANIMALS/THERAPEUTIC INDICATIONS
Tolfén L.A. 8% can be used in cattle, sheep, goats, camelids, horses and swine.
DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION
Cattle, sheep, goats, camelids and horses:
Le tolfenamic acid is the only authorized nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug with a 48 hours action. It is usually administered 1 mL/ 40 kg (2 mg/kg). In mastitis and respiratory infection cases: a single dose of 1 mL/ 40 kg of body weight (2mg/kg) by intramuscular or slow endovenous route. The dosage will be effective for 48 hours. In case the infectious process continues it might be necessary a second dosage after 48 hours.
If the endovenous route is used (in particular cases of very acute infections), apply a single dose of 1 mL/ 20 kg (4 mg/kg) or a 2 consecutive day treatment at a dosage of 1 mL/40 kg (2 mg/kg).
Swine: a single dosage of 1 mL/ 40 kg of body weight by deep intramuscular route in the neck muscle. When a considerable number of animals are being treated, the use of exchangeable needles is recommended.
Storage : Keep in a dry and cool place, protected from light exposure. Store among 15° to 30° C.
Keep out of reach of children and domestic animals.
COMMERCIAL PRESENTATION: 20 mL, 50 mL, 100 mL and 250 mL vials.
